St. Mary School is a Roman Catholic School associated with the Diocese of Rockville Center. The school includes Nursery through eighth grade.

The close knit environment at St. Mary School offers each student a strong academic base towards higher education while fostering a deep sense of faith, hope, and charity towards each other and the community in which they live. This provides a natural balance for students seeking courses meeting the New York State Standards, while developing and understanding their relationship with God and each other in the Roman Catholic faith.

Student Council

St. Mary School has an elected Student Council body which is proud to sponsor events such as, Make-A-Wish, Red Ribbon Day, Twin Tuesday, many social events, and Keep Islip Clean Day. It is an honor to be part of this council.(Click on the picture to view our Picture Gallery.)

St. Mary School offers a great dance program, with a recital at the end of the school year! We also have a drum circle, and a Performing Arts Club! This club includes acting, dancing, singing, and even set building! In all, there are clubs and activities to please many diverse interests. Did we mention the Bowling Club? The Sports Program at St. Mary School includes an After-School Sports day on Wednesday for grades 3-5, and on Thursday for grades 6-8.Participation in the Catholic Middle School Athletic Association (CMSAA) includes our SMS soccer, cross country, basketball, baseball, and softball teams. Technology Run

After a full morning of learning, it is fun to enjoy outdoor recess! There is an outdoor painted map of the United States that students can walk on while learning national geography. Our Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School students enjoy physical education activities both indoors and outdoors. Adventureland

Here at St. Mary School, the 7th grade students go to Adventureland on a Diocesan Technology field trip every year. We participate in the National Junior Honor Society, and the students receive Principal's Gold, Silver, and Effort Awards. The monthly writing and student recognition certificates inspire many students to do their best work. Many students have been published in different anthology books, and many have been recognized by national writing and reading associations. We were pleased to host a first and second place winner in the Green Energy Contest offered by LIPA. We reduce, reuse, and recycle.
